Syria's Supreme Iftaa Council, the highest clergy council in the country issued a statement calling for a General Alert among the public to defend the country. The statement aired on state TV called the public to support the Syrian Armed Forces and the youth to join the Syrian Arab Army to defend the Syrians, their country, their heritage and their religion against from the enemies wanting to rip the country in pieces as they've done in other countries. The rare statement comes after large numbers of Muslims abroad fell into the sedition and were misguided to believe that Jihad is supposed to be done by killing other Muslims, totally opposite Islam in its core, in its Quran and in the teachings of prophet Muhammad Peace Be upon Him.

God said: 'Those [believers] who responded to Allah and the Messenger after injury had struck them. For those who did good among them and feared Allah is a great reward - Those to whom hypocrites said, "Indeed, the people have gathered against you, so fear them." But it [merely] increased them in faith,and they said, "Sufficient for us is Allah , and [He is] the best Disposer of affairs."

And God said: 'Permission [to fight] has been given to those who are being fought, because they were wronged. And indeed, Allah is competent to give them victory.'
The Prophet said, "He who fights that Allah's Word (i.e. Islam) should be superior, fights in Allah's Cause." (Sahih Bukhari, 4:52:65)
And he said: "Two eyes will not be touched by Hellfire: An eye that cries from the fear of Allah, and an eye that spent the night in a guard post in the path of Allah (Jihad)." [Tabarani]
And he said: 'Anyone who is killed defending his property is a martyr, anyone who is killed defending his life is a martyr,who is killed defending his deen (religion) is a martyr; who is killed defending his family is a martyr." [Al-Sunan]
Sons of proud Syria, sons of our Arabic and Islamic nation:
Under the circumstances witnessed by Syrian Arab Republic of a war launched against the nation by a number of countries seeking to rip Arabic & Islamic nation and through their targeting of Syria's stances which supports sovereign national choices, humane dignity and resistence the country that remained with glory throughout decades against Zionist aggression & its expanding policies.
Targeting our Syrian people & our brave army is a mere targeting of steadfastness & resistence & today, our people are presenting its finest children to defend Syria & its people against tyranny, humiliation, subservience and dividing the region,they want to tear Syria apart like they did with a number of other countries.
In light of all of that, the Supreme Iftaa Council (highest clergy council) in the Syrian Arab Republic calls on our Syrian Arab people to carry out the legitimate duty:
Firstly: Defending unified Syria is an individual duty (each individual) for each of our people's citizens as it's an individual duty for each Arabic & Islamic nation & we call on our people in Syria to stand in one line with our Syrian Arab Army & our armed forces and we call on our children to do their obligation & join the Syrian Arab Army to defend our blessed by heavens country and the prophets' Imam (prophet Muhammad) prayed for.
And we warn from standing against our Syrian Arab Army & our armed forces as it will be a treason and a contribution to weaken its strength (the army), the strength that was prepared and still for the decisive battle against the Zionists and those standing behind the Zionists to help achieve the enemy's goals.
Secondly: A call of love to our sons in the Syrian Arab Army, and you are fighting the battles to defend our people & our nation to observe Allah in your Jihad (holy fight) defending Syria to raise Allah's word & the right in our precious country protecting the land, the nation, honor and properties.
Soldiery is a faithful & national responsibility, protect through it the bloods of the innocents and the sanctity of the land and honor, and let your standing by our Syrian people a standing for protecting and care for our humane, economic, cultural and historical wealths.
May God support you with his victory, and bless you to do what's good for the country, its unity and the safety of our people.
