China Reaffirms Support to Any Efforts to Speed up Solving Crisis in Syria

BEIJING, (SANA)- China voiced hope that the upcoming tripartite meeting to be held in Geneva on Friday between representatives of Russia and the US and the UN Envoy to Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi, will contribute to resolving the crisis by political means.

"China backs any efforts to contribute to speeding up the process of solving the crisis politically," the Chinese Xinhua news agency quoted China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei as saying in a press conference on Thursday.

The Chinese diplomat called upon all the parties concerned to commit to what the international community agreed on, particularly regarding the Geneva Declaration, to come to finding a just, peaceful and appropriate solution to the crisis in Syria.

Lei reiterated his country's support to the mediation efforts made by the UN Envoy to Syria.
