Syria: Car bomb hits Palestinian refugee camp in Damascus, 10 killed

At least ten people have been killed in a car bomb explosion in the Yarmouk Palestinian refugee camp in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
Many others have been also injured in the blast, which occurred near a bakery on Tuesday.

The densely populated camp has been under siege for weeks as a result of clashes between different militant groups operating inside the camp, and the residents are suffering from food and fuel shortage.

Meanwhile, a number of militants have been killed during clashes with Syrian troops in Damascus suburbs.

There are also reports of clashes between the Syrian army and the foreign-backed militants in several other parts of the country, including Aleppo.

Syrian authorities have temporarily closed the international airport in Aleppo due to repeated militant attacks against civilian aircraft.

"There have been continued attempts by opposition militants to target civilian aircraft, which could cause a humanitarian disaster," an official at the airport said, adding that the airport would be closed for a "very short period of time."

There are also reports of clashes near Ming airport in Aleppo.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011. Many people, including large numbers of army and security personnel, have been killed in the turmoil.

A recent UN report has revealed that militants from 29 countries have so far infiltrated into Syria to fight against the Damascus government, most of whom are extremist Salafists.

The Syrian government has repeatedly said that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and that a very large number of the militants operating in the country are foreign nationals. http://www.presstv.com/detail/2013/01/01/281252/ten-killed-in-yarmouk-car-bomb-attack/
